Junior Development Squad Day 2
The Junior Development Squad (JDS) gives U12 – U17 athletes an opportunity to develop additional skills and improve technical competencies through participation in coaching and training sessions with some of Victoria’s leading coaches. Training with other keen and enthusiastic squad members is both fun and motivational and helps develop new friendships based on an enjoyment of athletics. The emphasis is to provide a friendly and supportive environment.

Rye Gift (including Rye Junior Gift)
A huge event on the Athletics calendar, and one of our biggest fundraisers. Join us on the 2nd Saturday of January for the junior 100m dash, along with a great day of adult athletics racing and family activities. More information to come.

LAVic 60 year Anniversary Region Challenge & Open Day
On the 20 October 2024, Little Athletics Victoria will be hosting a special ‘Region Challenge’, bringing together a selected group of U10-U17 athletes to compete in a team’s competition format.
In the Region Challenge, athletes will be awarded points for each of their performances and will go towards their Region’s aggregate points total. The teams with the three highest overall points, after pre allocated points have been applied will be presented with gold, silver or bronze medals (including team managers). Commemorative medals will be presented to the other four Region teams and certificates provided to all competing athletes.

Victorian Institute of Sport Open Day
The VIS Open Day is a free annual event with the opportunity for the Victorian community to meet our Olympians, Paralympians and World Champion athletes, learn from high performance sport experts and experience the inner workings of our world class facility.
The VIS Open Day offers a unique taste of what it takes to be an elite athlete and to work in the high performance environment. Everyone is welcome, from children and families to university students and sports fans.

State Cross Country Championships
The State Cross-Country Championships is an individual Cross-Country event. It is held on terrain that is undulating and provides a challenge to the athletes. The course may incorporate one or two laps depending on the distance and layout of the course.

2023/24 Winter Track and Field meet
The LAVic WInter Track and Field Meets are trial events for U9 to U17 athletes to see if there is interest in winter track and field competition. For the first year, each meet is a stand-alone event but if there is sufficient interest, then it is likely to be expanded in the second year with additional opportunities for competition and possibly a state final. More details and registration here. Entries close 11am Monday 15th July.
Regional Cross Country Carnival
The 2024 Region Cross-Country Carnival for Gippsland Country Region will be held on Saturday 13th July at Edwin Flack Reserve, Berwick for athletes registered in 23-24 in U9 to U17 age groups. This is an Individual Cross-Country event that also serves as a qualifying event for the 2024 State Cross-Country Championships held at Bundoora Park, Bundoora on August 10th.
